An anti-bullying design created by an Independence Middle School student will soon be on display on a vehicle near you.
Brooke Balser, an 11-year-old who just finished the fifth grade, submitted the winning entry for Ohio’s new “Stop Bullying” license plate, Attorney General Dave Yost’s office announced Tuesday. The design, which features the words “Bully Free” around a rainbow-colored peace sign, will appear on the specialty plates, which can be ordered starting later this year…
“Bullies gain power when the people around them look the other way, stay silent or ignore the problem,” Yost said in a statement. “Each time we see Brooke’s colorful ‘Bully-Free Car’ design on an Ohio license plate, we’ll be reminded to treat others with respect and to stand up against bullying behaviors.”
