About Dave

Dave Yost is a principled conservative leader and a strong advocate for Ohio’s families, businesses, and taxpayers.

His tenure as Ohio’s Attorney General has been characterized by a commitment to upholding the rule of law, protecting individual liberties, fighting against partisan lawfare and creating a stable environment for economic growth.

A steadfast defender of integrity and accountability, Dave has fought political corruption and sought justice on behalf of all Ohioans. His pioneering case against a major energy corporation for its role in a public corruption scandal saved Ohio taxpayers a billion dollars, reinforcing his commitment to transparent and responsible governance.

A fierce defender of constitutional rights, Dave has protected Ohioans’ Second Amendment rights from the Biden administration’s partisan overreach. Guided by his faith, his wife’s own adoption experience, and his belief in the sanctity of all life, Dave is a tireless advocate for the unborn, continually defending Ohio’s pro-life laws.

With a deep sense of responsibility toward Ohio’s children and families, Dave has defended policies that protect girls’ sports and shield minors from irreversible gender transition surgeries, reinforcing his dedication to safeguarding Ohio’s future generations. He has also championed new laws that strengthen charter school accountability and protect school choice in Ohio.

During the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dave defended the freedoms of small businesses, religious schools, and individuals. His team even took the Biden administration all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, successfully arguing against federally mandated vaccines.

Dave’s career in the public and private sectors reflects a deep-rooted sense of duty. Early in his career, Dave practiced law in Delaware, Ohio, where he learned what it means to have employees counting on you to make payroll. He served as Prosecuting Attorney for Delaware County, and then was elected to statewide office as Ohio Auditor of State. In both roles, he fought for victims and for communities. He won Delaware County’s first ever capital murder case, and his public corruption work has led to the convictions of more than 170 corrupt public officials – from both sides of the aisle. He also found more than $260 million in potential savings for Ohio taxpayers.

He was elected Ohio Attorney General in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, with more votes than any Attorney General in Ohio history.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dave is a musician and a proud member of Buckeye Nation. He and his wife, Darlene, reside in Columbus. They have three adult children and five grandchildren.
